Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I get a message that says "We have discovered that you require the latest patch for PPC2002" when I run the program.  What do I do?
There is a required fix for the original release of PPC2002 on your handheld. This patch fixes some problems allowing access to the Pocket Outlook database.  Please download the patch (based on the manufacturer of your PocketPC) and install on your device.  Please visit the appropriate link:  Compaq  -  HP  -  Toshiba  -  Casio
  2. The software starts, a green screen appears then goes away.  What's wrong?
You need to install Eagle Vision version 3.0+ and also see (FAQ1) above.
  3. Why does the phrase "Register Eagle Vision" show up all over the place?
Your 10 day free trial has expired, after 20 days you will see "Register Eagle Vision" in place of all tasks and appointments.  Once they are selected, the editing and detail view functions normally.  Please Register Eagle Vision.
  4. What are the system requirements?
The software uses 321k of storage memory (223k for the program, and 98k or support files) and approximately 3.5MB of Program memory when running. Windows CE3.0 or newer is required. Software is designed for PocketPC form factor hand helds (240x320 pixel displays).
  5. I can not see some recurring appointments on the calendar.  Where are they?
In special situations the "Recurring" feature does not function.  Enable "Recurring" in the options and if no errors are reported then you are all set.
  6. Why do so many category options appear?
In the interest of speed when selecting categories, we present all of the options (even category pairs) that you have used.  For those with too many options it is possible to edit the displayed categories.
"Explore" your hand held device and go to "My Device\Program Files\Eagle Vision\EV_Categories.txt".  Edit this to show only the categories you are interested in.  Shut down Eagle Vision and start it again and you now have the revised category list.
We recommend using just a small set of categories.  Enough to provide distinction, but not so many that time and energy is wasted just for the sole purpose of assigning categories.
  7. Which version is appropriate for my handheld?
This is a hard question to answer.  There are many versions of the Windows CE operating system and many processor types.  Fortunately this is settling down to a select few now.  Download the "All Processor Types in One Large File" and the installer will place the appropriate software on your unit.
  8. Will this software work on "Palm" handheld devices?
No.  Eagle Vision is for the "PocketPC" operating system only.
  9. Are the pictures necessary?
We recommend that everyone have GOALS that they focus on.  The pictures can be hidden in the options if desired.
  10. How can I add my own pictures?
Look at the information under "Idle Displays - Image Viewer" in the manual.
  11. Where are the rest of the fields for data entry?
Eagle Vision is designed to be clean and effective, utilizing only the most important items.  For this reason many of the normal editing fields are not directly available.  There is a windows icon on the large views for editing.  Touching this icon will open the standard Pocket Outlook editor.
  12. When installing it asks to replace files.  Should I let it?
Yes.  Answer "Yes" to all prompts.  This is adding necessary driver files on your system.
